Information We Collect

Perch is self-hosted (your site and CMS are on your server not ours), therefore we do not store or collect any data relating to your individual website, other than the data provided to buy and secure your license. If you are someone with Perch installed on your website then you should contact the person who built your site for specific information about the data collected and how it is stored.

Information you provide to us:

  • Perch Account data: to create an account we need to collect your name and email address.
  • Payment information: to take payment and charge the correct amount of VAT we need to request and store your physical address information
  • Communications with us: you may provide information when contacting us for support, or speaking with us via Twitter, and we may keep records of that communication.

Information we collect automatically

In running and maintaining our website we may collect and process the following data about you:

  • Analytics data: Information about your use of our site including details of your visits such as pages viewed and the resources that you access. Such information includes traffic data, location data and other communication data.

License security

In order to check that your site runs under a valid license Perch does a “call home”. This does not transmit any informaton about you, your site content or your use of the software. We collect:

  • License Key
  • Host Name
  • Software Version
  • Server PHP version
  • Date and time

This data means allows us to check you have a license and also gives us information about the versions of our software in use plus the versions of PHP is use and that we therefore need to support.

Storing Your Personal Data

We are physically located in the United Kingdom. Our servers and the customer databases are hosted in Germany in the European Union by the hosting company Hetzner.

In operating our website it may become necessary to transfer data that we collect from you to locations outside of the European Union for processing and storing. By providing your personal data to us, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We do our upmost to ensure that all reasonable steps are taken to make sure that your data is treated stored securely.
